Potholes Caused By Weekend Storms Claim Tires Around The Bay Area

KCBS_740PETALUMA (KCBS) -- Auto repair and tire shops around the Bay Area are busy Monday fixing cars damaged by potholes.

Wet weather over the weekend turned tiny holes in the road into craters that could swallow a wheel in Petaluma, which is often described as having some of the Bay Area's worst roads.

"Potholes suck. They demolish and tear up your tires," Lynette Sheldon said. She had to get her wheel fixed after hitting a pothole over the weekend.

Changes in tires have made the problem worse for drivers.

"Now, you've only got an inch or two for that, on your five, or six thousand pound car," Pat McCallon, owner at Cain's tires said.

Bay Area resident Barry Jarvis says delays in making repairs make the problem worse.

"They're late. They're way late on the potholes. It's taken quite a while," Jarvis said.
