San Francisco Wants To Ban Vehicle Traffic From Twin Peaks' East Side
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Efforts are underway to ban vehicle traffic on the eastern side of San Francisco's Twin Peaks.
The east side faces downtown San Francisco and that's where some of the city's most panoramic views of the Bay Area can be seen.
KCBS and Chronicle Insider Phil Matier reports that city officials want to make that portion of Twin Peaks Boulevard available only to hikers and bicyclists.
City officials say it's just too unsafe for bicyclists and pedestrians on that road the way traffic is now.
If the plan is approved, a $50,000 pilot project would start sometime this summer.
