Build Wall Around California If Trump Is Elected, Gov. Brown Jokes
SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) – Gov. Jerry Brown weighed in on the 2016 presidential race Monday, mocking Republican frontrunner Donald Trump's proposal to build a wall on the border between the U.S. and Mexico.
According to The Sacramento Bee, the governor made his remarks speaking to labor organizers at a meeting in Sacramento.
"If Trump were ever elected, we'd have to build a wall around California to defend ourselves from the rest of this country," Brown said.
"By the way that is a joke. We don't like walls, we like bridges," the governor went on to say.

Trump has made a wall on the border a major campaign promise, saying he would have Mexico pay for the fence if he is elected president. The proposal has been widely criticized, and Mexican leaders have gone on record saying that they would not pay for it. Trump has also pledged to deport millions of undocumented immigrants.

Conversely, Brown has signed bills allowing undocumented immigrants to apply for drivers' licenses and for undocumented students to apply for college financial aid.
California voters will have to wait before they have their say on Trump and the other candidates. The state's primary election is not until June 7th, and the frontrunner could get the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination before then.
