Take A Virtual Reality Or 3D Tour Of A Telegraph Hill Penthouse

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A penthouse in San Francisco's Telegraph Hill neighborhood is on the market for $7.3 million and now you can take a virtual reality or 3D tour of the property without bothering to attend an open house.

Created by Sunnyvale-based tech company Matterport, the technology allows you to travel through the virtual reality or 3D models of homes currently on the market.

Matterport states that their team "has built the first end-to-end media platform that allows users to easily create, modify, navigate, and build on digital representations of real places."

Take a look at the 3D model of the San Francisco penthouse here. The virtual reality version of the penthouse tour will be available Wednesday via the Wall Street Journal, according to a Matterport spokesman.

Of course if you're looking to buy a swanky property in the Los Angeles area, then check out the home owned by actors Emily Blunt and John Krasinski in the Hollywood Hills here.

More Bay Area homes on the market and available for 3D view can be seen here.

For the virtual reality experience, download the Matterport VR Showcase app, available in the Samsung Gear VR app store. Powered by Oculus, the app lets you explore places including an art gallery, a national park, and a World Heritage Site.
