Are Aerosmith Planning a Farewell Tour?

By Amanda Wicks

Things between Aerosmith's members have been tense since Steven Tyler shifted gears to focus on his upcoming country album debut. Speaking with Rolling Stone, Tyler outlined what projects he'll be concentrating on in 2016 and 2017, and it seems a farewell tour for Aerosmith is likely.

"I'm doing 30 [solo] shows from May until August," he said. "And then in 2017 we go out with Aerosmith."

He mentioned that this could very well be the band's last tour together. "We're probably doing a farewell tour," he added. "Look, there's two bands that still have the original members, us and the Stones. I'm grateful for that. Whether we do a farewell tour or go into the studio and do another record, I'm just excited about it." According to Rolling Stone, Aerosmith hasn't performed together since September 2015 when they played in Moscow.

In February, Joe Perry remarked that he wouldn't pay Tyler's country music much mind if he didn't know the man behind it. Given that kind of attitude, it's hard to see the band putting aside their differences and coming together for an entirely new album. Still, fans will be excited to get one last hurrah with Aerosmith, if that's what their 2017 tour turns out to be.

Tyler's country album still does not have a release date, but given his solo touring schedule it seems likely to drop soon.
