Wildfire Burns 5 Acres In Dunes Near Dillon Beach

DILLON BEACH, MARIN COUNTY (CBS SF) -- A wildfire burned about five acres of grassy sand dunes in the unincorporated Dillon Beach area of Marin County Friday night.

The fire, which was first reported at 8:02 p.m. in the area of Cliff Street, was 100 percent contained around 11 p.m. Friday.

No structures were threatened, and there were no reported injuries, according to the Marin County Fire Department.

Battalion Chief Bret McTigue said campers in the area of Lawson's Landing Resort were initially ordered to shelter in place.

In all, more than 25 personnel, eight fire engines and four water tenders responded to the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
