Suspect Jumps From 4-Story Building During Wild Police Chase In SF Russian Hill

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of burglarizing at least two apartments was hospitalized Saturday morning after he led police on a rooftop chase before jumping multiple stories and landing onto a parked car in San Francisco's Russian Hill neighborhood.

Around 8:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 1300 block of Pacific Street, according to police.

As they investigated, officers found a piece of luggage from the burglarized apartment on the building's roof.

A short time later, officers received a report of another burglary in the 1500 block of Leavenworth Street, police said.

Officers learned during this burglary the suspect broke in and held the victim at gunpoint before fleeing.

After responding to the scene, officers encountered the suspect inside the building. The suspect then pointed a handgun at the officers, according to police.

When officers ordered the man to drop the gun, he failed to comply and fled on foot.

Officers then pursued the suspect onto the street, following him to the 1300 block of Pacific Street, where he then broke into another building. Officers pursued the man into the building and then onto the building's roof, police said.
