Rachel Roy Denies She's Beyoncé's 'Becky with the Good Hair'

By Radio.com Staff

(RADIO.COM) – When Beyoncé released her new album Lemonade, everyone had one question: who is Becky, with the good hair? The album deals with Jay Z's alleged infidelity, and calls out "Becky" as his mistress.

Fingers, and the BeyHive, pointed to fashion designer Rachel Roy, after she posted an Instagram with the caption "Good hair, don't care."

The post was subsequently deleted, and today Roy gave People Magazine and an official statement denying that she is Becky.

"I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest," she said. "My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that," she said. "There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors."

"Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats," she continued. "As a mother – and I know many mothers would agree – I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable."
