Cyclist Shot, Killed Near Lake Merritt
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A bicyclist was shot and killed near Lake Merritt.
It happened at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday.
Police said 29-year-old Ernesto Lora Jr. was in a bike lane on Lakeshore Boulevard between East 18th Street and Hanover Avenue, when someone shot him.
Lora had just moved to Oakland from Texas.
Authorities said it was not clear if the gunshot was fired by someone on the street or in a vehicle. Robbery does not appear to be the motive.
