MARTINEZ (KCBS) — Big dogs are creating crowded conditions at Contra Costa County animal shelters, and shelter officials are hoping some animal lovers will take advantage of a special offer to adopt them.

“We’re just over 255, and that’s just between both shelters in Pinole, and Martinez,” Burdo said.

The shelter is offering big dog adoptions for just $5 until May 7th.

Despite the deal, there have been few takers.
