Bay Area's Bike-To-Work Day Expected To Get Chunk Of Commuters Out Of Their Cars

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The city of San Francisco and several other Bay Area communities will see more commuter cyclists Thursday for the annual Bike to Work Day.

For some people, biking to work is an everyday routine.

Pedicab driver Larry Benson will take it even further. He bikes to work, and bikes for work – all before biking home.

"Most all of us bike to work every day. It's my health plan," Benson said.

For riders who haven't experienced San Francisco's hills, they may be in for a workout.

"Some of the streets are a little tricky. The hills, man. You need to be doing your squats and your deadlifts constantly to get up those," bicyclist Josema told KCBS. He was visiting from Toronto, where he said biking to work is an everyday routine for thousands of commuters.

Energizer stations will be placed throughout commute routes in all nine Bay Area counties.

More information on the day is available on Bay Area Bike To Work Day's website.
