Jane Fonda Sought Counseling Over Challenges Of Filming 'Grace and Frankie' For Netflix

LOS GATOS (KCBS/AP) -- Jane Fonda says the challenges of episodic television made her seek counseling.

The 78-year-old actress co-stars with Lily Tomlin in the Netflix series "Grace and Frankie."  The show's second season premiered last week, and it has been renewed for a third.

But that first season was a doozy, Fonda said Saturday at a Netflix luncheon celebrating the "rebels and rule breakers" behind its hit shows.

"I didn't realize what a completely different animal episodic television is. It was really hard for me the first season. I kind of fell apart," said the actress, agelessly fashionable in a Zuhair Murad floral suit. "So I went back into therapy, and I got an acting coach."

When the audience at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel laughed, Fonda responded: "No, it's true! And I'm proud of that at my age."

Fonda has won two Oscars for best actress in a leading role.

Fonda appeared at a panel alongside "Grace and Frankie" creator Marta Kauffman, "Orange is the New Black" creator Jenji Kohan and star Laura Prepon, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" star Carol Kane, "Jessica Jones" star Krysten Ritter, and new Netflix talk-show host Chelsea Handler, whose show premiered this week.
