BURLINGAME (CBS SF) – An accident caused major delays for Caltrain Monday morning after a man was fatally struck by a train in Burlingame, according to a Caltrain spokeswoman.

The man was struck by northbound Caltrain No. 305 at about 6:30 a.m. at the Oak Grove Avenue crossing, spokeswoman Tasha Bartholomew said.

There were between 275 and 300 passengers on the train at the time of the collision. No passengers reported any injuries.

All trains stopped in the area following the collision, causing delays of 60 to 90 minutes. SamTrans buses took passengers between Caltrain stops at Millbrae, Burlingame and San Mateo, while BART accepted mutual aid at its Millbrae station, Bartholomew said.

As of shortly after 8:15 a.m., the bus shuttles were canceled and trains began single-tracking on the southbound side of the tracks through the area at 15 mph speed restrictions.

The fatality is the sixth on Caltrain's right-of-way in 2016, according to Bartholomew.
