Still No Sign Of Oakland Teens Feared Drowned In Central Valley Reservoir

OAKDALE, Stanislaus County (CBS SF) -- The third day of a search at a Stanislaus County reservoir continued Monday for two Oakland teens who vanished after jumping off a boat Saturday.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department was using boats and jet skis to search the surface of Woodward Reservoir, located just north of Oakdale, according to sheriff's officials.

The two boys, both 15 years old, were reported missing by their family around 11:45 a.m. Saturday.

A group of seven family members jumped off a boat and into the water. The other family members got back onto the boat but the two teens did not, sheriff's officials said.

The family members did not appear to be wearing life-jackets, according to sheriff's officials.

Saturday and Sunday sheriff's officials enlisted the help of a dive team equipped with sonar equipment, to search the reservoir's murky waters, which have a visibility of only about two to three feet. The water in the area is between 14 to 18 feet deep, sheriff's officials said.
