Son of the Italian-born patriarch of the Ghirardelli chocolate empire, Domingo Ghirardelli Jr., Joseph died before he could actually live in this 6,479 square foot estate. Instead, it would be home to his widow Ellen and her new husband Thomas Cushing. Together they remodeled the then-dated Mission Revival manse into its 'modern' Colonial Revival Style.
