'Ali' To Return To Theaters To Celebrate The Boxing Legend

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF/AP) — The 2001 Muhammad Ali biopic "Ali" will return to theaters this weekend to celebrate the late boxing legend.

Sony Pictures said Wednesday that Michael Mann's film, starring Will Smith, will play in a few hundred theaters nationwide. Two theaters in the Bay Area will show the film over the weekend. Showtimes at the Westfield San Francisco Centre on Saturday, June 11th at 7:40pm and Sunday, June 12th at 2:00pm. In the South Bay, AMC Mercado 20 in Santa Clara will have showings on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 1:55pm and 7:15pm.

Following Ali's death Friday at 74, numerous theaters have also scheduled screenings of "When We Were Kings." The 2006 Oscar-nominated documentary chronicles the 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" between Ali and George Foreman.

"Ali" earned Oscar nominations for Smith and supporting actor Jon Voight as Howard Cosell.
