Stanford Sex Assault Victim's Powerful Letter Read In Full Before Congress

STANFORD (CBS SF) -- The powerful letter a Stanford sexual assault victim read to her attacker is being in its entirety before members of Congress.

Representative Jackie Speier will read the woman's full impact statement during a historic Special Order Hour Wednesday night on the house floor.

The 12-page letter made headlines and lit up social media during the sentencing of defendant Brock Turner, an ex-Stanford swimming star accused of sexually assaulting a woman who passed out at a party.

The judge in the case has come under fire for sentencing Turner to only six months.

Spier says the reading of an entire victim impact into the record on the House floor will be a Congressional first.
