MARTINEZ (CBS SF) — A vegetation fire that was rapidly growing on the edge of Martinez’s city limits Wednesday afternoon has been contained, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials said.

The fire was first reported near Rankin Park in Martinez shortly before 4 p.m., according to the fire district. It quickly grew to five acres.

At 5 p.m., Fire Inspector Ryan Bain said that responding crews had stopped the forward progress of the blaze and contained it at five acres.

No structures have been damaged by the blaze, he added.
