Samuel L. Jackson Insists His 'Star Wars' Character Is Still Alive

By Ned Ehrbar

(CBS NEWS) – In "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith," Samuel L. Jackson's Jedi character, Mace Windu, fell to his death after being dealt a deadly force-lightning blow by the Emperor -- or did he?

Jackson just revealed that, the way he's always seen it, Windu survived that fall:

"In my mind, I'm not dead," Jackson said during a fan Q&A on Twitter. "Jedis can fall incredibly high distances and not die."

Entertainment Weekly asked the "Pulp Fiction" star to elaborate on his insistence that Mace Windu survived. "Jedi can fall from amazing distances and there's a long history of one-armed, one-handed Jedi."

The actor also explained that he ran the theory by "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, and apparently he made enough of a stink about it that Lucas finally relented, telling him, "I'm OK with that. You can be alive."
