SUV Flees After Striking Fire Truck In Rio Vista

RIO VISTA (CBS SF) -- Police are asking for the public's help to find an SUV that fled after allegedly colliding with a fire truck Saturday afternoon in Rio Vista.

At 4:09 p.m. officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision at Main and Second streets, according to police.

Upon arrival, officers determined a vehicle had struck a fire truck belonging to the Montezuma Fire Protection District.

The vehicle was described as a white 2003 Chevy Tahoe with the California license plate with the number 5AHS034, police said.

The SUV allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the fire truck, which was already in the intersection, causing major damage to the driver's side, according to police.

Witnesses told police after the collision a woman seated in the front passenger seat of the Chevy tried to exit the vehicle, but the driver pulled her back inside and fled the scene. Witnesses also said there was a child inside the SUV, seated in a back, police said.

It was not immediately clear if any firefighters inside the truck were injured as a result of the collision.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at (707) 374-2300.
