Bystander Injured In San Francisco Shooting Stemming From Attempt To Kick Dog
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A confrontation over a dog in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley on Monday night resulted in a shooting that left a bystander injured and forced the targeted victim to flee onto a bus.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. Monday in the area of Santos Street and Brookdale Avenue, not far from McLaren Park.
A 26-year-old man told police he had been walking toward nearby basketball courts when a woman walking her dogs passed him.
The man told police that he tried to kick one of the dogs, at which point the woman got angry and told him she was calling her sons. A short time later, a black four-door vehicle pulled up and two men in their mid 20s stepped out and started shooting at him, police said.
The victim ran and jumped onto a passing San Francisco Municipal Railway bus. He was not injured, but a bystander walking in the area was hit in the elbow by the gunfire, according to police. That person was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
The suspects pursued the bus in their vehicle. The first victim called police when he realized the suspects were still pursuing the bus. They were last seen in the area of Paul Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard, according to police.
No arrests had been made as of Tuesday morning, police said.
