Alameda County Deputy Linked To Sex Scandal Fired; Faces Domestic Violence Charges

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An Alameda County Sheriff's deputy facing domestic violence charges – and who has also has been connected to the prostitute at the center of a sex scandal rocking Bay Area law enforcement – has been fired.

Deputy Travis Brannon has been arrested more than once for alleged domestic violence against his wife.

The department confirmed to KPIX 5 that Brannon no longer works at the sheriff's office as of five o'clock Friday afternoon.

Brannon was arrested last September for domestic violence. Records show after his arrest, he violated a "no-contact" restraining order. A source with knowledge of the investigation told KPIX 5 that Brannon called his wife from jail a number of times and threatened her.

Brannon was arrested again in November for repeatedly violating the restraining order.

In addition, Brannon is one of four Alameda County Sheriff's deputies being investigated for allegedly having sex with a prostitute who calls herself Celeste Guap.

Several other Bay Area law enforcement officers are also being investigated for allegedly having sexual contact with the woman.

"We had a number of people involved in that. There's four of our deputies involved, so we went out and personally reached out to that individual who was on social media," said Sheriff Gregory Ahern. "We brought her in for an interview, fully investigated our people to determine if anything illegal took place."

There are allegations the woman may have been underage when she began having contact with a number of Bay Area officers.

Brannon has been with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office for eight years. KPIX 5 has been told he had a clean record up until the problems started late last year.
