Masked, Armed Home Invasion Robbers Terrify A Dublin Family

DUBLIN (CBS SF) -- Masked robbers carried out a home invasion robbery in Dublin, terrifying a mother and her three children.

Arriving home, the mother and her children opened their garage door to go inside. Suddenly, four suspects rushed the family.

Dublin police Lt. Victor Fox said, "Two were believed to be armed with handguns. The suspects gathered the victim and her children in one of the rooms in the house. They were watched while the rest of the suspects ransacked the residence."

Police say after about half an hour the four suspects left the house, releasing the family unharmed. In the end, they only got away with a small amount of cash and two high-end hand bags.

Lt. Fox said, "Things like this don't happen very often, when they do happen it's surprising and we do take it very seriously and we are throwing every resource that we can at it."

But the neighbors take their security very seriously too. Most houses have alarm systems, but their house even has a closed circuit camera recording day and night.

The vehicle police believe was used to get away was captured on video and is described as a late-model Infiniti FX35. Police also want to find a man who was walking in the neighborhood when the suspect car was near the house.

"Luckily, no one was hurt," Lt. Fox said.

Dublin police have even more video and still photos, but are asking for anyone with information to call them.

Police are comparing this crime with similar robberies in the surrounding area to see if there's any pattern.
