San Francisco Man Arrested For Alleged Child Molestation Near Oakley

OAKLEY (CBS SF) -- Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies arrested a man last week whom they suspect of molesting a girl in an unincorporated area near Oakley, a sheriff's spokesman said Wednesday.

Deputies on Thurssday arrested 21-year-old Lafayette Thomas, who lives on San Francisco's Treasure Island, after they learned of the alleged molestations, which they believe happened in August, sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

Thomas is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of three counts of child molestation and one count of sexual battery. His bail is set at $205,000, according to the sheriff's office.

Thomas is known to frequent parks in San Francisco and is suspected of inappropriately contacting other children. Detectives believe there may be other victims, Lee said.
