Green Day Bash Donald Trump As Racist At New Jersey Club Show

By Jon Wiederhorn

(RADIO.COM) – Green Day called out Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as a racist Wednesday night at a club show at New Jersey's Starland Ballroom.

"You guys been watching the news lately," frontman Billie Joe Armstrong asked the audience. "What do you think of New York's finest, Mr. Donald Trump?"

Then, he launched into an attack the Republican presidential candidate and other politicians he sees as racist. "No racism, no racism, no racism in this f—ing room," he said. "There is no white supremacy in this f—ing room right now. We are coming together, tonight here in New Jersey, to call bulls— on all the f—ing politicians."

When Green Day tore into their hit "American Idiot" Armstrong changed some of the lyrics of the song from "Pulverize the Eiffel Tower" to "Pulverize the Trump Towers."

In an interview published last month in Kerrang! Armstrong compared Trump to Hitler. ""The worst problem I see about Trump is who his followers are," Armstrong said. "I actually feel bad for them, because they're poor, working-class people who can't get a leg up. They're pissed off and he's preyed on their anger. He just said, 'You have no options and I'm the only one, and I'm going to take care of it myself.' I mean, that's f—ing Hitler, man!"

Green Day's new album Revolution Radio comes out October 7.
