Drake's 'One Dance' Becomes Most Streamed Song on Spotify Ever

By Amanda Wicks

(RADIO.COM) – Drake's Views keeps on racking up all sorts of milestones. Not only did "One Dance" go on to become Drake's first solo number one hit, but Billboard officially crowned it the 2016 Song of the Summer after it remained atop the Summer Songs Chart for all 15 tracked weeks. And now it's been named the most streamed song in Spotify's history.

Altogether "One Dance" has been streamed—drum roll, please—880 million times, which contributed to the 8 billion streams Drake has received on that platform alone. And that's considering the fact that Views was a two-week Apple Music exclusive, and didn't even hit Spotify until after that blackout window. Views also set the Spotify record for biggest consecutive streaming weeks. In its first week on the platform, Views earned 245 million streams, while in its second and third weeks it earned 141 million and 186 million streams, respectively (via Pitchfork).

Spotify isn't the only place where Views has been heavily streamed. In September, Apple Music honored Drake with a plaque because his latest album had become the first to receive one million streams on that platform.

As for his latest accomplishment, Drake's 880 million streams blows the last song to hold that title out of the water. In November 2015, Major Lazer and DJ Snake's song "Lean On" featuring MØ earned 526 million streams. Mere child's play next to the 6 God.
