SONOMA COUNTY (CBS SF) — An Amber Alert has been issued for a 7-month-old baby boy who authorities suspect was taken by his mother from the infant’s grandmother Sunday, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s office.

Sonoma County sheriff’s officials announced the abduction Monday morning. An Amber Alert was issued shortly before 2 p.m. Monday afternoon.

35-year-old Hannah Ruth Ashley of Guerneville is believed to have taken the boy from his crib at the home of the grandmother, who has legal custody of the child. Ashley made threats to take her child back during recent child visitations, according to the sheriff’s office.

The infant, identified as Henry Massey, is described as a white male, approximately 26-inches tall and weighing 15 pounds with brown hair and grey eyes.

The sheriff’s office issued a “be on the lookout” alert after the grandmother informed the sheriff’s office of the abduction at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. There has never been a threat of violence toward the boy and he is not believed to be in danger, sheriff’s officials said.

Ashley drives a silver Subaru Forester with California license plate No. 5JKZ255.

CHP Officer Juan Leon said the sheriff’s office likely requested an Amber Alert to broaden the search for Ashley and the infant after investigators exhausted their search efforts in the Guerneville and Sonoma County area.

A parent who abducts a child often goes to a relative or stays in the local area, Leon said.

Anyone who sees Ashley or the vehicle is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (707) 565-2121 or 911.
