GILROY (CBS SF) — A big-rig driver suffered a broken leg and the truck spilled diesel fuel early this morning on a shoulder of a highway in unincorporated Santa Clara County near Gilroy, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher said.

The crash was reported at 4:44 a.m. on state Highway 152 just east of Ferguson Road.

A hazardous materials crew was called out to clean up the fuel, which posed no threat to the environment, CHP officials said.

A passenger in the truck complained of pain.
