Man Arrested For Felony DUI For Fatal San Jose Crash

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Police in San Jose have arrested a driver for felony DUI in connection with a downtown crash Thursday afternoon that killed a pedestrian.

The crash happened at 4th and Santa Clara streets shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Investigators say the pedestrian was struck by the suspect's pick-up truck and pinned against a television news van that was parked on the street.

The victim has been identified as a city worker, but authorities have not released that person's identity.

Two other people in the news van had injuries not considered life-threatening.

The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Richardo Gomez.

He was booked into Thursday Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

The incident was San Jose's 38th fatal collision and 40th victim of 2016.
