Transient Breaches Security At San Jose Airport

SAN JOSE (CBS SF & AP) -- Authorities were investigating another security breach at Mineta San Jose International Airport after a transient somehow made his way onto a restricted airfield.

There were reports that an electrician saw the man early Thursday and called airport police.

Airport spokeswoman Rosemary Barns says a review is underway to determine how to prevent another incident.

It's at least the 10th time an intruder has gotten onto San Jose's airfield since the start of 2014, and it happened despite security upgrades such as higher perimeter fencing.

The Associated Press reported this year that San Jose was tied for the fifth most perimeter-security breaches nationally since 2004.

Serial stowaway Marilyn Hartman attempted several breaches of the airport's security measure in 2014 before successfully flying from San Jose to Los Angeles without a boarding pass. She was arrested on arrival by Los Angeles airport police.

In the most publicized incident, a teenager scaled the fence in 2014 and survived a flight to Hawaii in a jet wheel well.
