New Oakland A's President To Hold 'Office Hours' For Fans
OAKLAND (KCBS) – David Kaval, the new president of the Oakland A's, plans to keep open "office hours" as he navigates the building of a new stadium in Oakland. Kaval said having the fans and community on board will be critical for the development.
Beginning in December, when he starts working out of the Coliseum, Kaval said he will have open office hours 3 to 5 every Tuesday.
"Talk to me about any issue. They can sell me insurance, they can try to get a job. They can do whatever they want to," Kaval said. "But we can talk about the team and where the stadium could go. And having that open line of communication with the fans, with the community, will yield better results for everybody."
Office hours is something he's done in the past as president of the San Jose Earthquakes soccer team.
"I really want to dig into the work that has been done. You know, when we did Avaya Stadium down in San Jose, we looked at a couple different locations and I think we learned a lot from where we ended up choosing," Kaval said. "And I think those ideas are good to integrate into this plan, to make sure we have a site works for everyone."
Kaval stresses the A's are committed to staying in Oakland. Transit, accessibility, traffic and atmosphere around the stadium will all be considered for stadium placement.
