Police got a call around 4:30 p.m. Monday about a home invasion robbery in the 200 block of Reynard Lane in north Vallejo.

The caller said the intruder kicked in the front door of his residence and was inside, Lt. Michael Nichelini said. The 27-year-old male resident shot the intruder several times and escaped out the second-story window, Nichelini said.

The intruder, identified as 30-year-old Lamonte Ray Williams II, was taken to a hospital where he died of gunshot wounds.

Police said Williams has recent addresses in Suisun City and Oakland. The name of the resident was not released.
