Man Fatally Stabbed In San Francisco's Castro Near Elementary School

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man was found fatally stabbed in San Francisco's Castro District Monday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded at 2:54 p.m. to the area of 18th and Diamond streets on a report of someone lying on the sidewalk with a knife sticking out of their chest, San Francisco police spokeswoman Officer Giselle Talkoff said.

Police have not determined whether a suspect was involved or whether the wounds were self-inflicted. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Talkoff said.

The location where the wounded man was found is a block away from the Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy, a neighborhood elementary school.

No other information about the case was immediately available.
