Woman Accused Of Intentionally Running Over Boyfriend In Hercules Parking Lot

HERCULES (CBS SF) -- A Hercules woman was under arrest on second degree murder charges Thursday after she allegedly ran over her boyfriend and dragged his body under the car following a domestic dispute, authorities said.

Hercules Police said 19-year-old Desire Borela had been taken into custody, charged with second degree murder and was being held at the Martinez detention facility.

Investigators said an officer was sent to a parking area in the 100 block of Glenwood in the Glenwood Condo Complex after someone call to report that a man had been struck by a car.

Upon arrival, the officer found an adult male laying on the ground. He had a pulse but was unresponsive. Paramedics attempted to revived him, but failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday.

A witness told the officer she saw a female driving in circles in the parking lot. When other witnesses got closer, they saw a man was being dragged under the car, a police spokeswoman said.

"They got the female driver to stop and the male was dislodged from the vehicle, and the adult female fled in a grey or silver car," said police spokeswoman Det. Connie Van Putten.

The investigation showed the man and woman both lived in the complex and were dating. The couple had a dispute which ended with the woman running over the her boyfriend.

The suspect vehicle, a 2006 Maxima, was found abandoned on Village Parkway near the entrance to the apartment complex.

On Wednesday night, Borela turned herself in to Hercules Police.

Police considered it an isolated and unusual incident for the area. "Usually this is a pretty quiet neighborhood," said Van Putten. "And to have kind of a vehicular homicide like this, it appears to be intentional, yeah, it's a little bit different."
