Small Magnitude 2.6 Quake Strikes Near Monterey Bay

MONTEREY (CBS SF) -- A preliminary 2.6 magnitude earthquake struck Sunday evening near Monterey Bay and Salinas, officials with the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The earthquake struck at 7:50 p.m. about 11 miles northeast of Salinas.

No damage or injuries were reported in Monterey, Santa Cruz or Santa Clara counties, according to sheriff's officials.
