BERKELEY (CBS SF) – Police arrested 13 people Sunday who attended demonstrations in Berkeley.
According to Berkeley police, the 13 suspects were arrested on suspicion of various offenses, including assault with a deadly weapon, felony assault and violating the Berkeley Municipal Code.

The youngest suspect is a 20-year-old man from Santa Rosa, and the oldest is a 47-year-old man from Portland, Oregon, police said.

Most of the suspects arrested are from Berkeley and Oakland. One suspect is from Sparks, Nevada, police said.

Police said one officer was injured during an arrest and several other officers were struck with paint.
Six people were injured during the demonstrations and were treated by paramedics. Two of those individuals were taken to hospitals for treatment, police said.
A rally called “No to Marxism” took place at Berkeley’s Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park. Police estimated that about 4,000 people attended the rally.
A separate demonstration called the “Rally Against Hate” took place a few blocks away at Oxford and Addison streets on the West Crescent lawn on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley.
In order to safeguard the demonstrations and public spaces, Berkeley police received assistance and support from various city and county agencies, as well as police agencies from neighboring cities.

When are police going to crack down on Antifa and arrest them? The only thing that these “tactical retreats” on the part of police do is to encourage Antifa to engage in further violence. Antifa is becoming the modern day Sturmabteilung (Hitler’s Brown Shirts). Antifa needs to be declared a terrorist organization and the word sent out from the DOJ to local LEO’s – “Arrest these Antifa terrorists and DO NOT BACK DOWN!”

So far I have not seen any proof that there were any “white supremacists” at Berkeley. Nevertheless, that woman who identified herself as Jewish rationalized the crowd’s behavior because she wanted to make the place unwelcome to white supremacists. This is the problem with the left these days. They don’t seem to need proof. Perhaps they don’t care. They seem to have adopted the belief that the ends justify the means, and for that they are more frightening than the people they claim to be fighting against.
I don’t understand why these folks think they can fight fascism by acting like fascists. All they managed to do was ratify what Trump said about the violent alt-left. I think there should be a stringent state law making it a felony for a group to attend demonstrations wearing masks. I also think the ones from out of state should tried on the same charges as the Chicago 7 back in 1968- crossing state lines to incite a riot. Furthermore I think anyone who doesn’t have the courage to show up with their faces hidden don’t belong there. If you are too chicken-livered to demonstrate without hiding your face,stay home.
