4 Bay Area Residents Arrested In Illegal Slot Machine Scheme
SACRAMENTO (AP) -- Four Northern California men have been charged with installing and maintaining illegal video slot machines at smoke shops and convenience stores.
U.S. Attorney Phillip Talbert said Friday a federal grand jury returned a single-count indictment on against Yaniv Gohar, of Berkeley; Orel Gohar, of San Francisco; Eran Buhbut, of Oakland; and May Levy, of Walnut Creek, charging them with conducting an illegal gambling business.
Prosecutors say that between September 2015 and November 2017, the defendants allegedly installed and maintained video slot machines at smoke shops and convenience stores throughout Northern California, including in Sacramento.
If convicted, the defendants face a maximum statutory penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
