EL SOBRANTE (CBS SF) -- Two suspects have been taken into custody Thursday in connection with a late-night shooting in El Sobrante that left one man dead, according to authorities.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday afternoon that the two suspects -- 22-year-old Richmond resident Anthony Gaines 57-year-old El Sobrante resident Judy Barkas -- were in custody and had already been booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on murder and conspiracy charges.

The two suspects are each being held on $2 million bail.

Late Wednesday night, the man's body was discovered in a gravel driveway off San Pablo Dam Road, triggering the homicide investigation, authorities said.

Sheriff's investigators said they received a 911 call from a neighbor reporting shots fired at around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Arriving deputies discovered the 22-year-old man's with several gunshot wounds next to a car parked in a gravel driveway on a Cul-de-Sac off San Pablo Dam Road.

Deputies started CPR on the victim and requested assistance from the fire department and paramedics, but the man waslater pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim's identity is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

An autopsy Thursday morning determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound.

Investigators interviewed neighbors and combed the shooting scene for any evidence.

The sheriff's office said the investigation into the homicide is ongoing. Detectives were still trying to establish the exact motive in the case, but have determined the individuals are acquainted with each other and appear to have been involved in an ongoing dispute.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to call the sheriff's office at (925) 313-2600.
