Neighbors say they are saddened that such an incident would happen in their area.

“Am I surprised? No,” a neighbor said. “Like I said, he seemed a little bit off kilter, so I’m not surprised that he is the suspect.”

The woman has been taken to the hospital and is currently undergoing surgery for her wounds.

Exactly what led up to the altercation and how the man was killed and the woman was injured is unclear.
