Scammer Impersonating Santa Rosa PD Calling Sex Offenders For Private Info
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - A man impersonating a Santa Rosa Police Department employee is preying registered sex offenders.
The scammer's number shows up as SRPD on the caller ID, according to authorities. The caller demands personal information over that phone that could be used for identity theft.
The SRPD never asks for information or payments via phone, according to a scam alert issued Tuesday.
