TURLOCK (AP) — Stockton’s fire chief has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.

Turlock police chief Nino Amirfar says the arrest involves a Saturday report that Newman injured a person who used to live with him in Turlock.

Newman was booked on suspicion of felony spousal abuse. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
The Stockton city manager’s office has placed Newman on administrative leave.
