Northern California Manhunt For Shasta County Double Murder Suspect Daun Eric Sanders

REDDING (AP) — A search was underway Sunday for a man suspected of shooting three people, killing two and critically wounding the third, in a rural Shasta County.

Daun Eric Sanders, 35, is considered armed and dangerous, the Shasta County Sheriff's office said in urging members of the public not to confront the suspect.

Deputies who responded to a report Saturday about a shooting in Shingletown, a community of 2,300 about 130 miles (209 kilometres) north of Sacramento, found three victims inside a residence. Two were pronounced dead and a third victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Sgt. Kyle Wallace said in a statement.

After identifying Sander as a suspect, a sheriff's SWAT team and Redding police officers searched Sander's home a few doors down from the shooting scene but couldn't find him, Wallace said.

Investigators believe he fled in a dark-colored pickup truck.

Authorities did not release the victim names or a motive for the shooting.
