Light Plane Clips Power Lines, Sparking Blaze During Crash Landing Near Watsonville School
WATSONVILLE (CBS SF) -- Both the pilot and the passenger walked away uninjured after their small plane crashed outside Watsonville near Pajaro Valley High School around 2:15 p.m. Sunday, a Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.
The plane took down power lines as it careened toward the ground, sparking a small fire near Harkins Slough and Lee roads, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Ashley Keehn said. The fire has been extinguished.
PG&E is working to restore power to the affected area, and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash, Keehn said.
