It's an impossible task, but somebody had to do it. Now that you can finally stream The Beatles' entire catalog starting at 12:01 a.m. on Christmas Eve, here are Radio.com's top 5 essential tracks to check out:
Off their 1965 album Rubber Soul, "In My Life" dives deeply into personal waters. The song's opening guitar, like so many Beatles' songs, has a classic feel about it. Any fan knows what's coming from just the first few bars.
As the last song on 1967's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, John Lennon's contribution borrows from newspaper headlines while McCartney's picks up on a more upbeat theme. Combining two distinct songs into one, "A Day in the Life" continued pushing what the band produced musically.
The first song off 1964's Beatles for Sale, "No Reply" is a short slip of a song, and yet from Lennon's deep-throated croon to the song's mournful subject, it remains a classic for a reason.
The Beatles' foray into more psychedelic fare, "Tomorrow Never Knows" combines trippy existential lyrics with experimental production to produce a stunning beast of a song.
Perhaps one of the band's most recognizable–and covered–songs, "Come Together" contains a swampy bass riff that lends the tune an earthy feel. The song opened 1969's Abbey Road, which set the stage for a musical experience unlike any other.
