A Hollywood-Inspired Reading List

Books form the basis of countless Hollywood films and you'll have no shortage of big screen adaptations to choose from during this year's Oscar season and throughout 2015. Here's your guide to titles from our sister company Simon & Schuster that are getting the Hollywood treatment. Be the first to say that the book was better than the movie!

Starring Hilary Swank, Tommy Lee Jones, Meryl Streep, and John Lithgow,  captures the devastating realities of pioneer life through the eyes of Mary Bee Cuddy, an unforgettable frontier woman. The Homesman premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival and will be released stateside on November 7. Alice Howland is a fifty-year-old cognitive psychology professor at Harvard with grown children and a happy marriage when she finds herself in the rapid downward spiral of early-onset Alzheimer's. Julianne Moore is already rumored to be at the forefront of this year's Oscar race for her devastating portrayal of Alice as she is left unable to continue in her career, take care of herself, or even recognize her loved ones. Also starring Alec Baldwin, Kate Bosworth, and Kristen Stewart, Still Alice will be released on December 5th in New York and Los Angeles, and will be expanded to theaters around the country in January.
