Best Local Gyms That Provide Child Care In The Bay Area

Physical fitness is a key component of general health, and even more important for parents who have to keep up with active, fun-loving little ones. For those looking to workout in a gym environment, finding one with quality child care can prove challenging. Here is a list of five great Bay Area gyms with kids' programs. Fitness enthusiasts of all types, from the yoga-lover to the CrossFitter are sure to find a spot to workout that will welcome the younger set.

With one of the best gym child care programs outside of the local YMCA, Active Sports Club has several Bay Area locations for the fitness-minded parent. The Active Kids program is open for kids ages six weeks and up. Older children will enjoy a wide variety of activities ranging from arts and crafts and sports to playing on the Wii and reading. Babies up to age three have a specially designated baby-proofed area separate from the older kids. Gym member parents can also take advantage of specially scheduled Parents Nights Out, Stroller Fitness classes, and birthday parties.

CrossFit fanatics can now make a family affair of this fitness lifestyle, and enroll the kids in specialized CrossFit Kids courses at the CrossFit of Fremont. The gym currently holds three CrossFit Kids classes each week for $100 per month. Kids ages three up to 18 are welcome to join. Adult memberships start at $139 per month. Both free trial classes and boot camps are offered.

Kids ages six to 12 can join the Saturday morning Kindred Cobras class and reap numerous benefits from increased coordination, speed and agility to improved language, math and social skills. The kids' program is specifically designed to foster the developmental needs of children and incorporates all manner of movement from running and jumping to climbing and lifting.
