With a constantly evolving culinary landscape, San Francisco offers some of the best and most exciting cuisine in the world. With new restaurants popping up all the time, the ending of a year is often the perfect time to reflect on some of the best new spots to dine. There is something new to try for any diner, from those seeking modern American cuisine to those looking for homey Asian comfort food. Here are five of San Francisco's most hyped new restaurants that have opened in 2015.

Bon Marche Brasserie

Brand new this year is Market Street's Parisian style brasserie-bar-coffee house, Bon Marche. In the kitchen are husband and wife team executive chef Matt Sieger and pastry chef Rikki Garcia. Amid the cutesy Euro décor, customers will enjoy classic French bistro fare like steak frites and escargot. Other comforting brasserie standards include French onion soup, foie gras and braised lamb with bean cassoulet. The full bar will also appeal to Francophiles as it stocks a decent selection of French beers, wines and European-inspired cocktails.

Having already earned a Michelin star in the few months since its spring opening, Aster is the latest project of chef/owner Brett Cooper. With the creative inspiration of chef Cooper, along with pastry chef Sean Ehland, Aster serves up refined Northern California cuisine. Ingredients are sourced locally, with many created in-house. With a constantly rotating menu based around fresh, seasonal foods, Aster offers a daily tasting menu consisting of four courses. Courses may include anything from milk-fed lamb with sunchokes, quince and hibiscus, to an elaborately constructed buche de noel.

Possibly best-known for her 2009 restaurant Frances, chef Melissa Perello recently launched spinoff spot Octavia. Octavia features a laid-back casual atmosphere with a fine-dining slant. The menu includes a unique blend of Perello's signature global comfort food. Dinner options may include everything from a seasonal spiced duck breast with persimmon and charred mandarin to squid ink noodles with green garlic, bottarga and lemon oil.

One of Jackson Square's newest additions, Trestle dishes up modern American cuisine. The restaurant's nightly dinner menu offers up what is possibly one of the best deals in San Francisco. With different offerings each night, Trestle dinner menu consists of three courses for a very affordable $35. Entrée options may include anything from braised short ribs to pork schnitzel. Each menu includes an appetizer, entrée and dessert, and there is a fourth-course upgrade option.

The first San Francisco restaurant for owner Ryuichi Hamada, The Mission's Spice Jar offers affordable Asian comfort food. Designed to be an inviting neighborhood spot, dishes at The Spice Jar are served family-style and designed to be shared. The menu is divided up into appetite-centric categories like small bites and hungry, and includes a range of fresh and cooked dishes. Options include pho and ramen, green curry, tempura and edamame hummus. The menu is very vegetarian-friendly and includes house-made tofu.
