The San Francisco Fashion and Merchants Alliance produces San Francisco Fashion Week every year. It's billed as an exclusive fashion show event showcasing the area's best up-and-coming designers. It's a big celebration that focuses on (in addition to the latest styles) social responsibility, innovative technologies, alternative spaces, and creating a forum for the local fashion industry. Who doesn't love vintage clothing? For those who love vintage (read: everyone), the San Francisco Vintage Fashion Expo is held every September at the Concourse Exhibition Center. This event brings together more than 85 vendors of vintage and antique clothing. The eras covered are HUGE, and clothes from 1850 through 1980 are sold. If you're still unconvinced, the website says there will be Chanel and Halston and Lanvin. Happy shopping.

Om Records

Fashion and music always go hand-in-hand, and there's always plenty of fashion-forward folks at the events put on by the guys at San Francisco's Om Records.

San Francisco has some amazing DJs who've made a name for themselves on the local party circuits. From counterculture kids like Sleazemore and Rchrd Oh?! and Jeffrey Paradise to the big mainstream SF'ers like Claude von Stroke and the guys at Om Records, DJ culture is keeping San Francisco nightlife (and the hipster scene) alive and well.
