SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KCBS)- San Francisco voters may be asked to weigh in for a third time on an old political battle between Mayor Newsom and his chief nemesis at the Board of Supervisors.

Supervisor Chris Daly is making his perennial push to force the Mayor to appear before the board of Supervisors once a month whether he wants to or not.

Voters passed a non-binding policy measure in 2006, but the next year rejected a binding charter amendment and now Daly wants to put that same measure back before voters this November, saying it’s good to publicly dialogue about issues.

Supervisor Michela Alioto Pier says it would be nice if the Mayor visited the Board once in awhile, but not because he’s forced to.

“I guess I have more of an issue telling the mayor that he or she has to do anything,” said Pier.

Newsom has mostly steered clear of board meetings, preferring to define the agenda on his own terms rather than be pressured into one by the supervisors.
