OAKLAND, Calif. (KCBS)- Police in Oakland are investigating two separate fatal shootings Thursday evening.

The first, on 77th and Halliday Avenues, happened at about 5:20 p.m.

When officers arrived, they learned the victim had already been transported to Highland Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

An hour later, officers went to the scene of a reported shooting on 7th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard.

The victim was seen running from a person firing a gun. He was discovered by officers lying on the ground and surrounded by a crowd of onlookers.

He too was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
